When travelling in the summer, it’s so easy to fall into a habit of laziness. You’ll go have your vacation, not do anything, fall completely out of your good habits and intentions, and come home feeling behind, making you want to wait even longer to get back to the grind.
I’m not suggesting you turn your vacation into work, because that would defeat the purpose. I recommend that you do these 3 simple things each day to keep up with your work and feel productive and efficient:
- Keep up with your planner – bring your planner with you on vacation and fill it out a bit each day. Write things in the to do list section – even something fun to do like “go snorkeling”!
- Maintain the 5 summer habits – these habits can really be done anywhere! Adapt some of them to better suit wherever you are on vacation, like taking a run on the beach in place of treadmill.
- Do one pomodoro session per day – one simple, 20 minute session is all it will take to feel productive and efficient while you’re away. I’d spend this time checking emails and tending to the little things that would overwhelm me when I return. Just be sure to NOT do any more than 1 session per day!
Travel can be stressful and disorienting – but even worse is coming back to more stress. Try these habits and let me know how they work out!
